Isle of Arran

Suggested days out from Glasgow and Edinburgh by train

Probably the most accessible of the Scottish islands, it is sometimes described as “Scotland in Miniature” as the island features mountainous and lowland scenery. The main town is Brodick, where the ferry from Adrossan Harbour berths. It’s an attractive town to stroll around, with fabulous views across the Firth of Clyde, and Brodick Castle about two miles north of the main town.

Journey Time: Glasgow Central-Ardrossan Harbour 52 minutes
Ardrossan Harbour-Brodick (Ferry) 55 minutes.
Total Journey time (including transfer at Ardrossan) 2 hours 10 minutes.
