The West Highland Line

From Perth to Inverness, used by trains from Glasgow, Edinburgh and London to Inverness. Climbing from Perth through the heart of the Grampian Mountains, through Pitlochry and Blair Atholl , through the pass of Drumochter to Newtonmore, Kingussie and Aviemore – gateway to the Cairngorm mountains , before climbing again over Slochd Summit before descending finally to Inverness – Britain’s fastest growing city.

  • Train Frequency: - 3 trains day each from Glasgow and Edinburgh (with additional journeys possible by changing trains at Stirling or Perth). Journey times 3 hrs 35 mins.
  • One overnight sleeper journey each way per day (except Saturday nights) between London Euston and Inverness, calling at most stations.
